I’ll admit it. I was really into the Spice Girls when I was a teenager. I dressed up as Baby Spice for Halloween and I saw their movie Spice World, in theaters, and loved it. What was not to like? They were cheeky and fun, they had catchy pop songs, they taught us all about Girl Power and Victoria Beckham actually smiled.

Following in the footsteps of Billy Joel, Green Day, ABBA, The Four Seasons, Elvis and the 80’s, The Spice Girls announced this week that a musical based around their discography would premiere in London this fall. Viva Forever! is…a lot like Spice World – it’s the story of fame and friendship as four girls audition for a talent show and the whirlwind of celebrity absorbs them.

Viva! Is produced by the woman who brought the world Mamma Mia. It’s written by Jennifer Saunders, half of the Absolutely Fabulous comedy duo. Talk about girl power.
