FORBES has just released their list of the Top 10 female recording artist money makers of 2011.
Even though her second album “Born This Way” has been considered a bit of a creative failure, Lady Gaga tops the list, taking in a total of $90 Million. Not bad for a year’s worth of work.
In second is country music sensation Taylor Swift. Despite the fact that all of her songs sound exactly the same Swift pulled in $45 Million, not a bad haul but pales in comparison to Gaga’s $90 Million.
The rest of the list is full of artists who have mastered the art of creating pop hits and have dominated the billboard charts throughout the year. The only exception would be Adele, coming in 9th on the list with $18 Million, whose album 21 is often considered the favorite to win Album of the Year at this year’s Grammy awards.
Overall, only 5 of top female acts fall within the top 25 highest paid musical acts of 2011, a reflection of the gender-gap that persists in the music industry.

2) Taylor Swift, $45 million

4) Beyonce, $35 million
5) Rihanna, $29 million
