The Scoop: Depp Gets Paid, Michael J. Fox’s Return to TV & Avril Lavigne Gets Married

Johnny Depp is looking to cash in on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in a major way. British paper The Sun reports Disney wants Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow to the tune of $75 Million. That’s $75 Million for one movie. Not a bad deal considering Depp has made Disney over $3.5 Billion dollars worldwide.
NBC has landed the highly coveted Michael J. Fox comedy project. All of the major networks were in the mix but at the end of the day NBC gave Fox the world, essentially giving the single camera comedy a full season pick-up before seeing anything beyond a pitch. That’s 22 episodes guaranteed before seeing a pilot. The show will also be filmed in New York City, the location of Fox’s last broadcast show, Spin City.

Now that the season for summer blockbusters is over we’ll skip over September and October and jump right into Oscar season and bring you the first teaser photo of Stephen Spielberg’s Abraham Lincoln biopic. Featuring the greatest actor of his generation, Daniel Day-Lewis suits up as Honest Abe and can we be as blunt to say he nailed it? Lincoln hits theaters November 9th.
Good news for fans of the cancelled show The Killing. AMC may be done with the murder mystery series but we have word Netflix and DirecTV are interested in a giving the disappointing show another chance. Netflix has declined to comment on any potential interest in The Killing but DirecTV offered a more reaction, saying they’re always in the market for new shows.

Watch out citizens of Earth, there’s a new Canadian power couple. 27-year-old Avril Lavigne and 37-year-old lead singer of Nickleback Chad Kroger have tied the knot. The nuptials all but ensures a lifetime of obnoxious pop-rock songs and the dreaded potential of angst filled, musically challenged children.
And Madonna is being sued by Russian activists to the tune of $10.5 Million for comments she made supporting gay rights during a recent concert in St. Petersburg. Russia is sooooo anti-gay they’ve actually passed a law making it illegal to promote homosexuality to minors. There were children as young as 12 at the Madonna concert.
