After casting relative unknown Joel Kinnaman in the title role of their remake of ROBOCOP, MGM is circling some heavy hitters for supporting roles.

First up, Edward Norton who is interested in the ironic role of Norton, the brilliant scientist behind Robocop.

Then there’s Gael Garcia Bernal, who plays Robo’s partner and who begins a relationship with Clara, Robo’s pre-transformation wife.

Rebecca Hall is reportedly in talks for that role.

And then there’s this bit of a bombshell. Sean Penn may appear in an undisclosed supporting role. Yes. I said Sean Penn may appear in ROBOCOP.

Take everything I wrote above as rumor…for now. But if it happens to be true, ROBOCOP just became one of the must-see films of 2013.
