The  Worst Person in the World has just been fired from Current TV.

Controversial Current TV host Keith Olbermann, who is infamous for spats with management pretty much everywhere he’s worked, was fired and replaced by a man who was indicted for soliciting prostitution.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann will be replaced by Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer beginning tonight.

In an Open Letter on Current TV’s website, founders Al Gore and Joel Hyatt stated:

We created Current to give voice to those Americans who refuse to rely on corporate-controlled media and are seeking an authentic progressive outlet.  We are more committed to those goals today than ever before.

Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.

Ouch.

Olbermann had been with Current less than a year before they terminated his $50 million contract.
