Hands up if you’ve ever dreamed of seeing Ryan Reynolds wearing a kilt?
Well those dreams may be about to come true as the former Mr. Scarlett Johansson is reportedly the first choice to play the lead in a remake of the time-jumping ‘80s fantasy action flick Highlander.
And if the remake is anything like the original there will be lots of flying kilts, sword-wielding, and decapitating of one’s enemies. Or as I like to call it; Saturday night.
Reynolds would replace French actor Christopher Lambert playing an immortal Scottish warrior who fights other immortals until only one remains. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Days Later) is slated to direct with a script by Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight) and Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
As a fan of the original – and its many sequels and spin-off TV show – I can offer this advice to Canadian actor Reynolds: Study the work of Star Trek’s Scotty to master the best crap Scottish accent ever; and ask Mel Gibson if you can borrow his Braveheart kilt. Just remember to wear some briefs under that thing!
