Sherman Hemsley (1938 – 2012)

Sherman Hemsley, best known for his role as George Jefferson on The Jeffersons, passed away at the age of 74.

Hemsley’s role as George Jefferson originated on the 1970s series All in the Family, and The Jeffersons would go on to become the longest running sitcom with a predominantly African-American cast.
