HBO Picks Up Newsroom and True Blood for Additional Seasons
July 12th, 2012 | Posted by in Scoops | TelevisionHBO knows a good thing when it sees it. After just two episodes of Aaron Sorkin’s Newsroom, HBO announced it was picking the show up for another season. Newsroom stars Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer as exes who also work together on a cable news show (he, an anchor. She, a producer). The show has brought in a ton of viewers in just two episodes, just shy of what Game of Thrones brought in when it debuted. It has actually done way better than True Blood did when that first came out in 2008. And hey look, it’s my beloved D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston).

Speaking of True Blood, Sookie Stackhouse and friends have also been picked up for another season. Season 6 will be the first without creator and showrunner Alan Ball, which is hard to imagine. It looks like we will have another year of mind-boggling monsters to contend with and an ever growing number of non-humans in Bon Temps. Seriously, by the end of the series, everyone in that town will either be a vampire, a witch, a fairy, a shape shifter, a werewolf, a werepanther or an evil demon. But I did it, so hoorays across the board.
