Why Take the Trip?
When Smashing Pumpkins released their debut album, some were calling them the next Nirvana.
So, when it came time to record their sophomore album, the pressure of living up to that hype caused frontman Billy Corgan to put immense pressure on the band, causing tension within the group.
Producer Butch Vig told Guitar World Magazine:
Billy wanted to make a record that people would put on and say, ‘What the fuck was that?’…
We wanted to have things going on in the left ear and right ear all the time.
Know Before You Go:
Although Siamese Dream was only the Pumpkins’ second album, Rolling Stone called it one of the best albums of the 1990′s.
Siamese Dream would peak at #10 on the Billboard 200.
