Travel Back To: 1989
The Artist: Don Henley
The Album: The End of The Innocence
Why Take the Trip?
Coming off the success of his previous album, Building the Perfect Beast, Don Henley was at the top of his game.
Then he made a better album.
Know Before You Go:
The End of The Innocence was Henley’s third solo album, and it would go on to be his best-selling. The sound was more mature, and the subject matter more introspective.
This was evident in the title track, which also opened the album
Remember when the days were long
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Didn’t have a care in the world
With mommy and daddy standing by
When “happily ever after” fails
And we’ve been poisoned by these fairy tales…
The End of The Innocence would peak at #8 on the Billboard 200 , spawning 3 Top 40 hits.
