Flashback Friday: 1983 (Frontiers)

May 4th, 2012 | Posted by Philip Carey in Flashback Friday | Music

Travel Back To: 1983

The Artist: Journey

The Album: Frontiers

Why Take the Trip?

After 1981′s mega hit Escape, Journey maintained their position as hit makers with 1983′s Frontiers.

While Escape spawned hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’‘” and “Open Arms,”  Frontiers had some hits of its own, and these hits were magnified by an up and coming network called MTV.

Know Before You Go:

The biggest video hit from Frontiers was “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” which is now considered to be one of the best music videos in history—because it is such a bad video.

“Separate Ways” has a cult following and has even inspired a shot-by-shot remake:

Impressive.  But what does the video mean?

Well, here’s a literal translation:

Standout Tracks:

→  Send Her My Love

→  After the Fall

→  Chain Reaction

→  Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)

→  Faithfully
