Why Take the Trip?
With Bee Gees legend Robin Gibb in recovery from a coma, the Hub flashes you back to 1977 to celebrate the Bee Gees’ stellar career.
The Bee Gees were not only great singers, but they were also prolific songwriters. Their music remains popular, and the hit show Glee recently paid tribute to the Brothers Gibb:
Know Before You Go:
The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack contains 17 tracks, 8 of which were written by the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees performed 7 of those 8 tracks for the record.
While the album is synonymous with the Bee Gees, it sprouted other hits, even bringing classical music to the disco era.
The Trammps contributed the disco anthem “Burn Baby Burn (Disco Inferno),” and an instrumentalist named Walter Murphy made Ludwing Van Beethoven hip with A 5th of Beethoven.
The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack was a massive hit, staying on top of the charts for 24 consecutive weeks on its way to selling over 15 million copies.
