Jeff Probst may be the grand poobah of Survivor but will he survive a deathmatch more savage and cutthroat than The Hunger Games arena? Yup… I’m talking about daytime talk.

The Survivor star premieres his new syndicated talker The Jeff Probst Show September 10 on NBC, but faces stiff competition from other TV vets with Katie Couric, Ricki Lake and comedian Steve Harvey all debuting their new daytime talk shows the same day.

And they enter a daytime field already crowded with Ellen, Anderson, The Wendy Williams Show, The Dr. Oz Show, Dr. Phil, and the lovely ladies of The View and The Talk. (Now I’m no TV executive, but if my kindergarten math serves me well I believe there are only 24 hours in a day and Dr. Phil’s ego fills at least six of those.) 

So good luck to Jeff… he’s filled in for Larry King and Regis, he’s endured 24 cycles of Survivor… but can he survive daytime talk?
