Eight Cut on First AGT Quarterfinal
July 5th, 2012 | Posted by in Featured TV | Reality TV | Television
Tuesday’s live results show at AMERICA’S GOT TALENT wasted little time when it came to eliminating eight of the first 12 acts to perform in the quarterfinals.
The first three acts to make it through were based on America’s votes via NBC.com and phone votes. The fourth act to make it was decided by a combination of America’s votes and the judges’ decisions.
This being my first season of watching AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, I’m fairly unfamiliar with how the results show works, but the performers have zero responsibility other than to show up and walk out the door when they get canned. It’s kind of like CELEBRITY APPRENTICE. They’ll walk out the door, and nobody will remember who they were.
Will.i.am and a new Cirque Du Soliel show performed. The judges loved them, of course, but it reeked of product placement. It’s more subtle than the Snapple sponsorship, I guess. (Who still drinks Snapple?)
Let’s get to what you want to see…
The Eliminations
The first three acts called to the stage were Michael Nejad, Shanice and Maurice Hayes, and Nikki Jensen.
Next, the 787 Crew, Lil Starr and the Scott Brothers were called to the stage.
The American BMX Stunt Team, Jarrett and Raja, and David Garibaldi and His CMYKs were next on the chopping block.
For Judge’s Choice, three acts were pared down to two, and then the judges’ picked. The choices were Edon, the Distinguished Men of Brass and Todd Oliver.
… and the final elimination.
Yes, Howard correctly predicted the winners this week, but he said today that he would no longer make predictions on the live show. He also said that he feels he owes Michael Nejad an apology for his comments Monday. We may get to see that next week.
Musical Chairs (The AGT Schedule)
On his radio program, Howard Stern has made no secret of his dissatisfaction of how the show is scheduled on NBC. It doesn’t seem to keep a regular time slot, and next week is no different. The next live show will be Tuesday, July 10 at 8p/7c, and the next results will air Wednesday, July 11 at 9p/8c.
So, did the right people make it? Who’s gone but should still be in the competition?
