Coming to a Theater Near You – X-Men: Days of Future Past

Consider this a big win for X-Men fans. 20th Century Fox has decided to take an ambitious step for their follow-up to the modestly successful X-Men: First Class.
Their inspiration, one of the greatest storylines in X-Men comic history, ‘Days of Future Past’.
Wikipedia breaks the plot of the story down for us:
A dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An older Kitty Pryde transfers her mind into the younger, present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.
Producer, and essentially Godfather of all X-Men films, Bryan Singer, spoke about the film and the return of First Class director Matthew Vaughn.
It’s being written now and it starts shooting in a few months… It’s going to be very ambitious. It’s called Days of Future Past, and it deals with aspects of that comic but also some new things. I just don’t want to give anything away. Matthew Vaughn will be directing, and we’re very excited about that.
Singer has also gone on the record about his desire to expand the X-Men Universe into a more coherent world, similar to what Disney and Marvel have done with The Avengers. If you’re a fan of what FOX is doing with the X-Men franchise, then that’s great news. But if you’re hoping the rights to the X-Men films eventually returns to Marvel, that now seems extremely unlikely.
