Bachelorette: Finally, “The Hangover” for Ladies?

Because comparisons to the movie Bridesmaids are inevitable, let me just say right now – I didn’t like that movie. The plot made me sad and angry (sangry) and the part that I really wanted to see – the bachelorette party – ends up getting cancelled. So it should go without saying that a snarky movie focused on the bachelorette party is starting out pretty OK in my book.
What skyrockets Bachelorette into the realm of “I don’t even care what the plot is about, I want to see this ” is the cast. But for the sake of you, the reader, the plot is: three best friends are asked to be in the wedding of a girl that they went to high school with and really didn’t like. And seemingly all they care about is throwing a kick-ass bachelorette party and getting wasted. Hijinx ensue.
Back to the cast. First off, it stars my beloved Lizzy Caplan who kills it in every single thing she has ever been in. Mean Girls? Party Down? A cheesy Lifetime movie called “Everybody’s Doing It” about abstinence pledges? All awesome. There is also Isla Fisher who is, of course, amazing. And Kirstin Dunst, who cheesy Lifetime movies aside, I don’t particularly care for. Rounding out the cast are Adam Scott (swoon), James Marsden, and Rebel Wilson (Kristen Wiig’s british roommate in Bridesmaids). So just wall to wall amazing comedic actors. And Kirsten Dunst.
Oh and it’s directed by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. I personally expect awesomeness because I just don’t see how you can go wrong with any of this.
