Sigourney Weaver confirms to Showbiz 411 that James Cameron is going completely bonkers over Avatar and is filming three sequels at the same time this fall with her in them.

Now I what you’re thinking: Doesn’t Cameron spend most of his time these days in a submarine on the ocean floor so where will he find the time to revisit Pandora and his beloved blue cat people ?

Well Weaver ain’t saying but Cameron himself recently said “’I’m in the Avatar business. Period.”

As for Weaver, she is plenty busy with her new USA cable show Political Animals but reveals that although she doesn’t have a shoot schedule for the sequels when James Cameron calls “I just show up.”

One question, Sigourney: Didn’t you die at the end of Avatar…so when you ‘show up’ will that be in a ghosty-Beetlejuice-like way because that would be awesome.

Daniel Radcliffe Stars in One-Take Video for British Band Slow Club (VIDEO)

daniel radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe is the kind of actor I want to hate but can’t.

I loved Harry Potter. I hated Radcliffe as Potter.

But he grew on me. And everything I’ve seen him do after Potter has been…erm…magical!

On stage in Equus and How to Succeed in Business… he surprised by not only surviving but thriving in front of a live audience.

He elevated the indie hit The Woman In Black to something greater than the sum of its small-budget parts.

Now check out our boy has he channels a Bukowski barfly and swoons his way through a one-take video for one of his fav British bands, Slow Club.

A boy wizard in a Hawaiian shirt has never before looked this sexy good.

monsters university

If you weren’t a fan of Pixar’s 2001 hit Monsters, Inc. then clearly your heart can’t love and you hate puppies.

But there’s hope for you as the makers of Up, Finding Nemo and Wall-E give us a teaser taste of next year’s Monsters University—their first prequel—revealing how our monster heroes Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) first met and what they were up to before scaring kids for a living.

With some saying that Pixar have lost their creative mojo with last year’s Cars 2 disappointing, and mixed reviews for this summer’s Brave, does this clip of Monsters University get your juices flowing?

Morrissey hits U.S. tour this fall

morrissey

I once saw Morrissey in a Dublin pub with two blonde brazzers canoodling on his earlobes. My heart shattered to see the King of Mope happy. (Not to mention I thought he was gay at the time.)

True Story.

But happy he is and coming to a city near you in the fall as the former Smiths frontman has announced a 33-city tour of the U.S. in support of his recent release, ‘Very Best of Morrissey’

Some heroes you want to remember in their prime; others you don’t care enough about to worry.

Morrissey is somewhere in the middle. He lives long in my memory but I kinda wanna see him rock out live at an arena near me soon. You should, too. And maybe he’ll bring those Dublin blondes.

SCOOP: Radiohead Postpones Concerts After Fatal Stage Collapse

June 26th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Music | Scoops - (0 Comments)

radiohead stage collapse

Radiohead crew member Scott Johnson died and three other crew members were injured after a stage collapsed in Toronto forcing the band to postpone some European tour dates.

The band said in a statement:

“Whilst we all are dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident there are also many practical considerations to deal with… We will make every effort to offer the fans the very best show possible under the circumstances — thanks for your understanding and support.”

The accident also destroyed the group’s light show and backline with some parts “decades old and therefore hard to replace.”

Rescheduled dates will be announced Wednesday, June 27.

FIRST LOOK: Katy Perry punches Russell Brand lookalike in ‘Wide Awake’ (VIDEO)

June 23rd, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Featured Music | First Listen | Music - (0 Comments)

katy perry wide awake

The big takeaway from Katy Perry’s staggering seventh single from her 2010 album “Teenage Dream” seems to be that Russell Brand, her soon-to-be-ex-hubby, is: a) a total bastard and she’d like to punch him in the face; b) you can survive any strife in life; and c) her boobs save the day, again… sorta.

In her new ‘Wide Awake’ video, Katy has seemingly cast herself as a protofeminist figure striding through a fantasy world of ghouls, paparazzi and a Prince Charming who looks like Brand.

We gather from the lyrics that he has dumped her from ‘cloud 9’—which I’m supposing is a metaphor for her whirlwind romance with Brand and not the nail salon in North Hollywood—and that she has learned from this experience and vows to never lose her true self in love again.

So to underscore this revelation she punches the Prince Charming lookylikey of Brand in the face—I think most guys would be okay with that—in front of a tween version of herself.

This track hits (no pun intended) all the right notes for the female empowerment audience so expect an Adele-like entire album of broken hearted love songs tinged with fierce independent motifs from Perry.

Oh, and as for Katy’s boobs saving the day…well watch the video and tell us what’s going on there because blasts of energy emanating from a girl’s ample chest is just plain terrifying to me.

Oprah Confronts 50 Cent For Naming His Dog After Her (VIDEO)

oprah and 50 cent

Oprah buried the hatchet on her long running feud with 50 Cent on her Oprah’s Next Chapter show with the most uncomfortable moment coming when the queen of talk challenged the rapper on why he named his pet schnauzer after her saying:

“You named your dog Oprah… that was not a compliment”

Talk about badgering the witness, your honor… 50 Cent is reluctant to go there but Oprah keeps at him until he finally reveals the shocking truth.

Watch the video for his surprisingly honest answer.

Jimmy Fallon, Carly Rae Jepsen play ‘Call Me Maybe’ with toy instruments (VIDEO)

June 16th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Music | Scoops - (0 Comments)

Carly Rae Jepsen’s earworm candy hit “Call Me Maybe” has been eating its way through my brain for weeks now and I can’t even go online for my usual cure—a five minute dose of Nyan Cat—because its viral video renditions have taken over the internet.

Now Jimmy Fallon and his house band The Roots have teamed up with Jepsen herself with a new version of the song played on elementary school instruments including the kazoo, tambourine, and what looks like a Fisher Price xylophone.

Trust me when I say teeny tiny toy instruments have never sounded so good. Watch.

Madonna moons Rome after boob flashing Istanbul (VIDEO)

Is Madonna on a butt and breast baring tour of Europe?

Madonna flashed her right breast on stage in Instanbul recently. Now the Material Girl has tried to top that—with her bottom!—by mooning her audience in Rome. Sorta.

Look, on the evidence above it wasn’t a full moon but still, come on girl, you’re 53, you have the queen of shock locked up for eternity, you don’t need to be flashing boob and booty at your age.

After all, you recently said yourself: “You don’t have to show nipples to be interesting.”

Watch Madonna’s right nipple say hello to Istanbul below (starts 2:58).

Lady Gaga hits back at Madonna’s diss? (VIDEO)

June 11th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Music | Scoops - (0 Comments)

lady gaga

Lady Gaga has been a pop icon for barely three years now; Madonna has been in the fame game for 30. So it doesn’t take a Ph.D in gestalt therapy to guess who might have a wee bit of cynicism crusted around their heart.

My point? When Madonna recently dissed Gaga  with a mash-up of her own “Express Yourself,” Gaga’s “Born This Way,” and Madonna’s 2008 song, “She’s Not Me”… Gaga said nothing. She took the high road, preferring to remain silent and simply observe Madonna’s cynical low road.

Now, Gaga is hitting back, and rightly so.

But she doesn’t mock. She doesn’t shock. She remains true to herself with an eloquent, hopeful speech to her adoring fans at a concert in New Zealand saying in part:

“It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make a mockery of their work… but we don’t have to hate and slice each other anymore.”
