Rapper 2 Chainz and every little boy’s sexy time dream girl Nicki Minaj get NSFW in “I Luv Dem Strippers” video that gives a new meaning to female empowerment.

Minaj helps out pal 2 Chainz on a new track from the rapper’s debut studio album, “Based On a T.R.U. Story,” that looks to top the Billboard 200 this week.

Steven Tyler Slams ‘American Idol’ As Mariah Carey Joins

August 6th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Scoops | Television - (0 Comments)

Double diva alert… and J-Lo!

Former American Idol judge Steven Tyler tells Rolling Stone that Fox’s reality behemoth was “not my cup of tea” and reveals that Idol producers wanted him “to take the piss out of the kids” but says that’s just not him.

Someone better warn Mariah Carey—who joins American Idol for season 12 as Jennifer Lopez departs—that Fox likes to beat up on the kiddies (and probably punch puppies, too) because I don’t think she has a mean bone in her body.

Former Idol and current X Factor judge Simon Cowell agrees saying “I think she’s going to find it difficult to say no [to contestants]. She’s sweet.”

And he’s right, Mariah ain’t no meanie, but someone surely needs to be.

Idol has been missing its snark since Cowell left and without a bad cop on the panel there’s no conflict and no one to hate and the viewer needs that, we need a villain. It’s that simple.

So while Carey is telling the world “I am so excited to be joining Idol [and] can’t wait to get started,” Fox, no doubt, are looking at their bottom line and are willing to try anything to boost their flagging ratings—including paying Carey a reported $18 million—and maybe, just maybe, hire that villain.

And Fox producers—Nick Jonas is not it.

SCOOP: Is Seinfeld coming back?

August 2nd, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Scoops | Television - (0 Comments)

Seinfeld is back, baby! … Doing standup that is.

For the first time since 1998, Jerry Seinfeld will take to the boards for five nights of standup this fall in New York.

So why is the mega-rich sitcom star stepping out on the town? He’s giving back to the city that made him:

“I was born in Brooklyn, went to school in Queens and started out as a comedian in Manhattan. I feel like New York City taught me how to be funny. I’m so excited to perform a special series of shows for my beloved home town.”

Seinfeld will perform the five shows, one in each borough of the city, on consecutive Thursday nights (Must See TV night… get it? No—ask your parents.) from October 4 to November 8 with a little support from SNL alum Colin Quinn.

With Jerry back on stage might a sitcom return be far behind? We say “Giddy Up”… Tell us what you think.

WATCH: Katie Couric’s New Theme Song By Sheryl Crow (VIDEO)

August 1st, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in First Listen | Music | Television - (0 Comments)

What do BFF’s do for each other?

If you’re Sheryl Crow you compose and sing the theme song—titled “This Day”—for your gal pal Katie Couric’s new daytime talk show, Katie, debuting September 10. (My BFF bought me a whiskey sour last night which is cool because I don’t have a talk show.)

Crow revealed why she helped out Couric saying:

“Katie is somebody I can talk to about the things so many of us juggle: our children, careers, health, and balancing our personal and professional lives. Plus she is really fun! I think her show will reflect the same kind of heart and energy I try to give my music, so ‘This Day’ was a fun project to work on together, as friends.”

Check out the new theme song in this promo and let us know what you think.

Breaking Bad: Bryan Cranston’s First TV Appearance (VIDEO)

Before Walter White was Breaking Bad, he had the role of a Lifetime.

Lifetime Cable Network, that is!

Yes, kids… before Walter White, before playing dad on Malcolm in the Middle, before a guest role on The X-Files, Bryan Cranston played a cheating bisexual husband on a reality drama show on Lifetime called Crisis Counselor.

Check out Cranston’s dramatic range and his gorgeous head of hair below.

Matthew Broderick, John Cusack Declined Walter White Role On ‘Breaking Bad’

July 27th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Television - (0 Comments)

Ferris Bueller as Walter White?!? Lloyd Dobler as a Meth King!?!

Hard to believe but Matthew Broderick and John Cusack were first offered—and turned down—the role of Walter White on Breaking Bad.

It’s tough to picture anyone else other than Bryan Cranston as the cancer stricken chemistry-teacher-turned-meth-cook but Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan reveals that AMC weren’t thrilled with his first choice for Walter with one exec saying, “We all still had the image of Bryan shaving his body in Malcolm in the Middle. We were like, ‘Really? Isn’t there anybody else?’”

But after Broderick and Cusack declined, Gilligan sold the AMC suits on Cranston based on his guest role on The X-Files years earlier produced by Gilligan who says, “We needed somebody who could be dramatic and scary yet have an underlying humanity so when he dies, you felt sorry for him. Bryan nailed it.”

The AMC suits agreed and Walter White was born. Good for fans, bad for Gus Fring.

Want to see the The X-Files episode that helped win Bryan Cranston the role of a lifetime on Breaking Bad. Check this out…

WATCH: Justin Bieber, ‘NSync Get Mashed Up (VIDEO)

July 27th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Music | Scoops - (0 Comments)

Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” meets ‘NSYNC’s “Girlfriend” in DJ Raheem D’s video mash-up that weave together seamlessly with similar hip-hop beats, lyrics, fancy cars, and dancing in parking lots with pretty girls.

Should I mention that the videos are separated by over a decade?

Now no one is saying that Bieber is lifting from the heartthrob boy band but you can’t ignore the similarities—which we’ll call homage—but when MTV’s Sway recently compared the two videos Bieber said he hadn’t seen “Girlfriend” and that “I just feel like my music is going a completely different route”

Let’s hope that that route is the Justin Timberlake path to musical genius and not the Joey Fatone road to mediocrity.

Now check out the mash-up and tell us what you think?

Bruce Springsteen Hits Back at London Curfew Debacle (VIDEO)

July 24th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Music - (0 Comments)

Nobody silences Bruce Springsteen without a little tongue-in-cheek payback.

The Boss took a friendly swipe at officials who pulled the plug on his recent London concert after he and pal Paul McCartney played past the 10:30 p.m. curfew time.

At Springsteen’s Dublin gig the rocker joked with fans by hauling a fake electrical power switch on stage saying, “Before we were so rudely interrupted…,” which guitarist Steve Van Zandt then flipped to “ON” as the band played the final minute of “Twist and Shout,” the same song he had been playing with McCartney when London officials turned off their mics for breaking curfew.

But the fun didn’t stop there with Springsteen singing a cover of “I Fought the Law,” and even held up a sign that read, “Only the Boss says when to pull the plug.” And to close the Dublin gig a man dressed as a cop pretended to arrest Springsteen.

Concert promoter, Live Nation, said the London show was stopped because of “health and safety” issues, but an incensed Van Zandt tweeted, “When did England become a police state?”

To which I will add:

Dear London,

You are a pussy with this 10:30 curfew BS.

Channing Tatum Reveals ‘Bigger’ ‘Magic Mike’ Sequel

July 18th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in Movies | Scoops - (0 Comments)

Let’s face it, one male stripper movie is never enough so Magic Mike star Channing Tatum brings glad tidings to lovers of the male anatomy everywhere revealing that a sequel to the hit flick loosely based on his life is in the pipeline.

Tatum told Glamour U.K.:

“Yes, yes and yes! We’re working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.”

“Bigger,” — Tatum?! Really? … yeah we’re not going there, but I will say this; with Magic Mike closing in on $100 million at the box office—from a $7 million budget—it’s a no brainer to put this male-flesh-fest team back together for another strip tease.

One request: throw in some female strippers for us guys and we’ll happily buy the tickets on date night.

Just sayin’.

Trent Reznor Composes New ‘Call of Duty’ Music (VIDEO)

July 17th, 2012 | Posted by Narrad Retsof in In The Know | Music - (0 Comments)

Nine Inch Nails frontman, Trent Reznor, has created the theme song for the video game ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ out Nov.13.

The Oscar-winning composer for The Social Network is no stranger to video games having worked on Quake and Doom 3 and tells USA Today:

“I have been wildly enthused about gaming since I was younger… and a career path I chose not to go down but did really consider was getting into programming and game design.”

Game design’s loss was music’s gain, but life has come full circle for Reznor who raves about the Call of Duty franchise saying:

“I have always looked to that franchise as the cutting edge of what seemingly unlimited budgets and full-on not cutting any corners can do in the current day and age.”

Check out the new trailer for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ below.
