Superman in Chains for ‘Man of Steel’ Poster

December 5th, 2012 | Posted by Ethan James in Featured Movies | Movies - (0 Comments)

The title says it all.

Warner Bros. is conducting the definitive ‘under the radar’ marketing scheme, first with a super lame teaser trailer that made the most iconic superhero franchise look like a romance novel and now with a ‘leaked’ poster to Facebook that puts, literately, a man with OUT OF THIS WORLD strength in a pair of handcuffs.

However, something tells me, this image of Henry Cavill, aka Superman, is part of him showing us earthlings he is not a threat, because remember, Man of Steel takes us back to Superman’s big “reveal” to the world so of course, we would freakout, detain him and probably conduct a series of experiments on him. Clearly he could pulverize the entire U.S. military but if peace is his objective it makes sense for him to go along with this whole detainment thing.

Man of Steel opens up next year, June 14th.

Jimmy Fallon, Mariah Carey Sing ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ with The Roots

Mariah Carey, Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon continues to be the most entertaining performer in late night, this time bringing us a (modern day) timeless Christmas classic with the help of its original singer, Mariah Carey.

Stripping the song ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You” down to just toy instruments, Carey joined Fallon and The Roots on a recent episode of Late Night and things pretty much took off from there.

Bottom line, a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

And for a brief moment you may just forget how much of a mega-diva Mariah Carey really is.

Megan Fox’s Boobs Star in ‘This is 40′

megan fox this is 40

This is easily the 3rd clip (embedded below) featuring Megan Fox standing around in a bra from Judd Apatow’s This is 40, the upcoming quasi-sequel to 2007′s Knocked Up.

We’re not complaining, but don’t take that as an endorsement for the film.

If this is their “go-to” clip, I’m guessing the other 133 minutes suck.

The film is about two characters from Knocked Up, played by Paul Rudd and Apatow’s real-life wife and mother of his two children Leslie Mann, who are struggling with accepting their life’s choices as they enter into their 40′s.

It’s kinda that ‘oh shit, where did my life go’ moment captured in a ‘this is real life’ movie that won’t make you laugh. So not a large detraction from Apatow’s recent string of failures.

When did being funny become not being funny?

This is 40 hits theaters on December 21st.

World War Z Features History’s Fastest Zombies

November 13th, 2012 | Posted by Ethan James in Featured Movies | Movies - (0 Comments)

world war z
The first trailer for Marc Forster’s take on the hit zombie apocalypse novel World War Z has finally dropped and boy does it look like a doozy. The book is one of the finest I’ve ever read. It’s a highly entertaining and interesting take on a genre that’s been covered to death. The film has been reportedly plagued with issues, including a series of extended action sequence re-shoots of which a majority of them appears to have made their way into the trailer.

The biggest take away from this first look at the film is that these zombies are f*ing fast. Like really really fast. That and they operated more like a colony of ants than the walkers seen on AMC’s The Walking Dead.

There’s little doubt this film is going to get a lot of eyeballs when it hits theaters next summer (June 21st).

World War Z stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, and David Morse.

Official Synopsis:
The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

Parks and Rec: Halloween Surprise

November 13th, 2012 | Posted by Ethan James in Television - (0 Comments)

parks and recreation halloween surprise
In the spirit of this year’s Presidential Election and the political themes overriding this season of Parks and Recreation this episode may as well been called ‘The October Surprise’, because like every 4 years when some even in October changes the narrative of the Presidential elections, ‘Halloween Surprise’ was a game changer for Parks and Recreation.

The two major storylines this year have been around Leslie and Ron’s romantic escapades. Of course, not together, but both characters are going down two very distinct roads of adult relationships.

For Leslie, she is trying to make her now long-distance relationship work with Ben, who is working in Washington D.C.

For Ron, having fended off the horrors of Tammy 1 and Tammy 2, he’s trying to cope with his own thoughts and feelings about being in a relationship as he finds a place for Diane in his life.

Ron as a much more challenging road to relationship redemption than most characters on television, so to see him opening up to a strong woman who has a life of her own offers much more reward. And the thought of Ron as a family-man/surrogate father could be a very smart way to “reboot” his character without jumping the shark.

I’ve had a much more difficult time taking a liking to Leslie and Ben. Simply put, they’re not Jim and Pam on The Office. They never have been and never will be, so I guess it’s pointless to even try to make that comparison but with Jim and Pam you feel like you know them and you want them to succeed. They feel real. With Leslie and Ben, they’re characters on a television show just outside the realm of reality.

**SPOILERS**
So when Ben pops up in Pawnee and asks Leslie to marry him, it was a ‘nice’ moment, but it doesn’t resonate like the whole Jim and Pam proposal, marriage, etc.
**END SPOILERS**

So there you have it, big changes on Parks and Recreation, a few surprises, and a whole lot of love.

**UPDATE**
Apologies for the delay and missed posts but Hurricane Sandy, a loss of power, and the Presidential Election pushed posts to the back-burner.

‘Community’ Girls Dance in Lingerie

November 13th, 2012 | Posted by Ethan James in Television - (1 Comments)

There really isn’t much more that you need to know about the video posted below beyond what’s already in the headline.

Two of NBC’s much delayed cult-hit sitcom Community, Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs, got all dolled up in some old school sexy lingerie for a “Pin Up Special” for GQ and the results are rather harmless and yet entertaining at the same time.

The issue hit newsstands months ago, but the video was just released recently.

Enjoy.

L.A.’s Homeless Very Excited for Timberlake, Biel Nuptials

October 25th, 2012 | Posted by Ethan James in Movies | Music - (0 Comments)

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel recently tied the knot in a $6.5 Million wedding and one of their classy guests decided the best way to say “congrats” was to film a hilarious video of poor, homeless, and seemingly mentally-ill L.A. ‘residents’ telling anecdotes about the newly wed couple.

Stay classy rich, entitled west coast snobs. Stay classy.

Taylor Swift’s Dating Past Haunts Her on ‘Ellen’

Ellen DeGeneres pretty much gets to do whatever she wants on her talk show because she dances and laughs a lot so it makes her seem like she’s not going to call you a whore on national television. Sure, a large part of this is probably because Ellen is super passive aggressive but she pretty much nails singer/songwriter Taylor Swift on her loosey-goosey dating ways. Swift plays along and I wouldn’t be surprised if she knew what was coming, but Ellen was brutally honest with the ridiculousness of Swift’s dating life, and the fact that we all have to listen to her sing about how she can’t keep a man for more than a few weeks.

‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Will Hunt and Kill Osama Bin Laden

October 25th, 2012 | Posted by Ethan James in Featured Movies | Movies - (0 Comments)

zero dark thirty

Ok, I just finished reading this fascinating take on the Osama Bin Laden raid in Vanity Fair by author Mark Bowden and wow, I cannot wait to see this film.

Gritty and gutsy are two words that come to mind and knowing who’s behind the camera, The Hurt Locker‘s Kathryn Bigelow, it’s safe to say we’re in for one hell of a film.

I’m curious to see how much of the film is about the actual raid, or following Bin Laden’s messenger who was apparently the weak link in his very small group of trusted aides.

Hey, his loss is our gain as America got it’s biggest “enemy” since Adolf Hitler.

Zero Dark Thirty stars Joel Edgerton, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Kyle Chandler, Mark Strong, and Chris Pratt and is expected to be released on December 19th, although there are rumblings in Hollywood that the film will be pushed back to early 2013.

Trailer Park: Carrie Remade, Jack Reacher, Hopkins as Hitchcock & Kelly Clarkson

Here we have another look at Tom Cruise‘s latest action thriller Chris McQuarrie’s Jack Reacher. I can’t put my finger on it but something is missing the mark with this film. Maybe its the random casting of Werner Herzog as the film’s villain. Why don’t we just leave it at that.

Lyric videos have officially gone mainstream, not only getting uploaded to youtube but now appearing on Vevo, the popular music video site. So, its our obligation to keep bringing you the next pop song that you won’t be able to get out of your head, Kelly Clarkson‘s “Catch My Breath”.

Carrie, the classic Hollywood horror film based on Stephen King’s breakout novel is being remade and now we have our first look at the film. A simple panning shot of a burning town with a quick reveal of the bloodied Carrie (played by Chloe Moretz), and a lot of random voiceovers from the film. I’ll say this, the film doesn’t look like a complete disaster so good job Hollywood!

Enrique Iglesias has released another horrible song, “Finally Found You”, but in typical Iglesias fashion, he uses the song to make out with gorgeous women. So that makes the score Iglesias – 5,382 …Me – 0.

Every once in a while there’s a film based on a real person or real events that just knocks it out of the park, and Hitchcock looks like it’s one of those films. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Danny Huston, Toni Collette, Jessica Biel and James D’Arcy the film is about the making of Hitchcock’s legendary film, PSYCHO. Oh yeah, and they talk about boobies.

If you haven’t heard, the minds behind the original Evil Dead series, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, are remaking the film and after screening it at New York’s Comic-Con (the trailer, not the film) there’s quite a lot of buzz around it. Check out the film’s red-band trailer and see what all the fuss is about.
