Big Barry
Judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel nearly came to blows during Tuesday’s performances on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT. Will Howie’s odd choices make it through?
The main event wasn’t the next 12 of the Top 48 to perform on AGT. It was watching Howard and Howie battle it out over Big Barry. Howard has never been a fan of Big Barry. He X’d Barry on his initial audition but also was the tie-breaking vote sending him to Vegas. Howard must be regretting that decision as this farce is keeping people with actual talent from competing, he says.
We’ll get to the Big Barry live audition in a moment, but let’s take a look at all the performances from Tuesday’s show. Click here for the full episode.
Quarterfinals – Part 2
LionDanceMe
The judges just don’t think they stepped it up. Perhaps they didn’t see what I did, but I thought it was more entertaining this go round.
Turf
America’s love affair with Turf and his story continues. I’m not sure this performance was as strong as Vegas, but his stage presence is remarkable.
The All Ways
Teleported directly from 1987, The All Ways tried a little something different. As such, the judges let them have it!
Hawley Magic
The judges here have good notes for this act. If they make it, perhaps they’ll be a little less Copperfield 1985 and more Copperfield 2012.
Lisa Clark Dancers
Howie’s remark about the choreographer was a bit much, and I think the audience responded negatively to that. We’ll see how the vote shakes out.
Aurora Light Painters
Although Aurora did paint a bit with light, there was a lot less of that and more storytelling than we had seen in the past. They seem to have suffered for it.
Danielle Stallings
I’ll be honest. This girl sounded off key the entire song. I started to wonder if she was singing the harmony or if her monitor was feeding her something completely different than what we heard.
Donovan and Rebecca
Donovan and Rebecca returned with another aerial act, and the judges loved it. It was a terrific performance!
Big Barry
With any luck, this is the last performance we’ll ever see from Big Barry. I’m hoping he returns to his life of obscurity… along with Edward Furlong and the kid from “Lost in Space.”
Tom Cotter
I’m not certain the material here was the best, but the judges lapped it up.
Ben Blaque
The best part of this was watching the final balloon deflate. The “did he or didn’t he” was awesome. (He did!)
Tim Hockenberry
Our resident pianist with the Joe Cocker voice sang his heart out. Surprisingly, one judge thought he fell flat.
Our Predictions
If there is a God, Big Barry will be gone tonight. With luck, Turf, Tim Hockenberry, Tom Cotter, and Ben Blaque will continue. Although, I would really like to see Donovan and Rebecca make it through as well.
Next on AGT…
Gavin DeGraw performs tonight on the AGT results show, which starts at 9p/8c on NBC.
