6 Minute Trailer for Matrix Director’s Cloud Atlas

Well here it is. The highly ambitious and somewhat unsatisfying first look at Andy Wachowski and gender-defying Lana Wachowski’s latest, Cloud Atlas. After several disappointing films (Speed Racer, both Matrix sequels) the Wachowski’s are desperately trying to prove they “still have it”. To do so, they enlisted Tom Tykwer, the director of the cult-hit Run Lola Run.
The only problem is Cloud Atlas is so f’ing complicated its unlikely popcorn-craving, thrill-seeking audiences will want to sit through what is likely to be a mess of a film. Pair that with the fact its an adaptation from a beloved novel, you can already see the odds stacking against their favor.
So you tell me… here’s the film’s official synopsis… are you interested?
Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.
The film stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant and hits theaters October 26th.
